And Jer's 40th Celebration Continues...

So Jer calls me from work Thursday morning to tell me he's not feeling well.  He said he was so congested the only thing he wanted to do was to come home and go to bed.
Well...that put me in a tiny bind because what he didn't know was I had invited a few friends of his to swing by and surprise him at the door with Happy 40th Birthday wishes.  Then everyone was going to come in and celebrate.  Like I said, he didn't know this was all going to go down, so I told him to go take some Airborne and man up.  Turns out he was kind of on to my plan because that morning he went out to the garage freezer and found it full of party food.  And then when he came home Luke wouldn't stop talking about the bag of ice in the freezer.   So when he asked if something was up, I told him to go lay down and we started decorating like mad.  And minutes later, the doorbell started ringing.  Everyone came through with the most creative, fun birthday wishes.  From 40 sucks, to birthday waves to Spanish Happy Birthdays (or Merry Christmases, depends on how fluent you are), to 40 rocks, to 40 packs of gum, to awful Aggie cups full of 40 (or so) kisses, to candy bar poems, to 40 years of holiday candy in a bag, to yukelee birthday serenades, to gift cards, treats and sweet notes, it was all so thoughtful and generous and kind.  Jer was floored.
He didn't like being the center of attention while we sang Happy Bday:)

Wish I would have gotten more pics of all of the friends that came out.  Everyone was honestly spectacular!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JER!!
I'm the luckiest girl in the world to be married to you!!
And now we get to be old together:)
 I LOVE YOU!!

New Year's Eve 2012

We rang in the New Year with the Adelmans.  Cristina cooked the most amazing dinner...Columbian tamales that were out of this world.  Then we settled in to back to back Settlers games and Troy and I dominated the night.  The kids played hard and the night flew by.  Before we knew it, it was time to get ready...

Beans in our pockets for good luck and 12 grapes eaten at midnight, making a wish with each one we ate.
Thank you Adelmans! It as a fabulous night!!!
Topped off with fireworks and firecrackers.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

New Year's Eve Ice Skating!

It was a first for Luke and he did awesome!
Jake and Breanna hadn't been ice skating for a super long time and they took to the ice like pros.

And once we got a hold of one of these, we could not keep up with Luke.  He loved it.
We will definitely be making this a new tradition.
Next time we'll bring gloves, hats and coats brrrrrrrr!!!!

Jer's BIG 4-0!!!

We kicked it off by waking up at the condo in beautiful downtown San Diego.  The Holiday bowl parade went right by on the street below us and we had perfect seats to take it all in.
 Jer got his usual gifts:)

Then we left the kids with grandma and grandpa and headed to LA for 2 days.
Jer found his FAVORITE Mex spot in Manhattan beach.

Then we hit the Getty.  The place was packed.  We took the tram to the top.

Where we found gorgeous art and even more spectacular views of LA.

The place is a must see!
Then for the highlight of the trip....we hit the Staples center for a Laker game.

Jamal Wilkes number was retired and Kareem AbdulJabar was there.  There was not an empty seat in the place.  It was a blow-out game, but lots of fun to be there with the worlds most loyal fans.
Happy 40th Jer!!
Love you so much!!!

Christmas Morning 2012

So, my camera battery died on Christmas morning.  It wouldn't recharge, it just completely went kaput.  So Jer took a few pics with his phone and this is really all we have to show for the big morning,  The memories will have to live on in our hearts!  The kids worked hard all year to save half their money for an IPAD.  We met them the rest of the way and it was the best Christmas ever.  And good hearted Luke was thrilled as ever to get a few new toys and a bunch of bouncy balls.
So we soaked up most of the day playing with new toys then packed up the car and drove to Cali where Grandma and Grandpa spoiled us with their Christmas.  It was a fabulous day!!!!

Christmas Eve 2012

We started the day off by hitting the movies....we all loved Rise of the Guardians!
Then over to the Heaps we went for Christmas Eve Festivities!

 BINGO was a huge hit.
Matt and Jamie's combined knowledge of the game made it exceptional this year.

After everyone cashed in on their BINGO winnings, we headed outside.
The gang, Ashley, Max, Angie, Libby, Bree, Luke, Shawn, Jer, Mike, Matt, Hayden, Ethan, Jack, Dax, Jamie, Grady and Jace.  Yes it was warm enough for some to go shirtless. And shoe-less.
Fireworks.  Jer was honored to do the honors.
It was quite the show.  And the cars racing down the street might not have paused long enough to appreciate what we had going on here.

Then back inside for Luke 2, Dessert and lots of talk.
Loved this night with friends old and new.
Unbelievable food, fast paced fun, Matt's addition to BINGO, kids hide and seek, Smith's special contribution of broken glass and unacknowledged spilled liquid, and best of all, the real reason Jamie was hurrying us all outside for a long fireworks show.
THANK YOU HEAPS!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
