Vancouver, BC

Jer and I just got back from a very relaxing get-away to Vancouver, BC! It was only the 2nd time that we've left the kids overnight. Grandma flew in to stay with them while we were away and the kids were so excited, they could hardly stand it. In fact, as soon as Luke saw Grandma, he reached for her and was perfectly content to be with her! I knew the kids would be in good hands, but seeing Luke react that way just made everything so much easier! We did so many things and just had a great time hanging out with each other! Here are a few highlights:

This is the beautiful ski resort of Whistler, Canada, home to some of the venues for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Here we are about to embark on the highlight of our trip....the Zip Trek. We Zipped through the forest on suspension cables and it was an experience like no other.
Jer getting ready to plunge down a few hundred meters on the zip trek. Did you know Jer is afraid of heights?? No turning back now, honey!!!
Whee! It kind of looks like Jer's feet are on the snow, but they're not! He's on a 1,000 foot line that dropped 16 stories - the height of the Eiffel Tower.

Don't you just love running into people you haven't seen forever?? We were so surprised to run into Val and Trudy from our little NY ward in Canada of all places! It was great to get caught up over breakfast! We ate the most delicious Crepes (their daughter Jackie's pick!) at this quaint little cafe.

Here I am getting set to cross the Lynn Valley Suspension Bridge (thanks Lisa, for the tip!) Below this shakey (especially with Jer in tow) bridge, was a gorgeous waterfall! It was raining just a bit which was such a treat for us! We rarely see rain or overcast days. Thanks Grandma....We love you!!

I think we may have gone on the very same suspension bridge!! We took Brent's parents with us to Vancouver. His mother had a break down half way across the bridge and couldn't get across. The poor lady! How fun that you ran into Val and Trudy. We sure miss all of our New York pals!

Take care,
Karyn

What a fun post! Glad your kids were so happy to stay with Grandma - it makes it so much easier to have fun when you're not worried.

Looks like you guys had an amazing time - it's so awesome to get a chance to go away alone! Good job Jeromy on conquering your fears! :)

Looks like you had a great time on your get away. I am jelous. We were supposed to go on a cruise in May, but are no longer going since we moved early. What a nice mom to fly out to stay with the kids.

What a fun weekend, sis! And might I say you look FABULOUS in the picks. You are such a babe! I'm glad you got away alone. Isn't it fun to find you really do like being with your kids?

Ok you guys...we're officially jealous..you got away without kids? We haven't done that in forever. The pictures look awesome...what a great trip..we'll have to put it on our wish list.
We definitely need to make time away without kids a priority. We had planned a dream trip to Australia for our 10th weddding anniversary and then that was foiled by Heather getting pregnant...I guess I had some fault in that as well...sheesh.

Anyway, where did you guys get the cool blog template? I searched all over and couldn't find it...did you tweak the HTML code or was that a canned template...I don't want to copy what you did, but find something better than what I've got and the other canned templates out there aren't doing anything for me. Thanks
